Summary
Undergraduate & Graduate Students Full-time students enrolled in ESL credit courses and taking the minimum full time credit hour load (9 hours for graduate students and 12 hours for undergraduate students, including the ESL courses) will not be assessed any additional tuition charges for ESL credit classes. The total tuition and fees for the semester will equal that of a full time student. Full-time students who choose to take more than the minimum full time credit hour load (10 or more hours for graduate students and 13 or more hours for undergraduate students, including the ESL courses) will be assessed additional tuition charges based on the number of credit hours taken over the minimum full time load. For example, if an undergraduate student takes 6 hours in her department and then 6 hours of ESL courses, the student is considered full time (taking 12 credit hours) and will be assessed full time student tuition and fees only. However, if the student takes 9 hours in her department and then 6 hours of ESL courses, the student will be assessed additional fees based on the number of credit hours taken over the minimum full time load (the student is now taking 15 hours and will be assessed additional tuition for the additional 3 credit hours). Additional tuition charges are per credit hours, and based on the part time student tuition rates listed here. Part time students enrolled in ESL credit courses will be charged the normal part time tuition rates. Graduate Students on Assistantships Graduate student assistantships do cover ESL courses as long as the graduate student is only taking the minimum full time credit hours (9 hours), including the ESL courses. For example, if a graduate assistant takes 6 hours in her department and then 3 hours of an ESL course, the assistantship will cover the ESL courses like it covers the other courses. However, if the student takes 9 hours in her department and then 3 hours of ESL courses, the student will be assessed additional fees based on the number of credit hours taken over the minimum full time load. International Faculty and Staff International faculty who enroll in ESL credit courses are eligible for the same tuition waiver available to all faculty and staff. For more information about this tuition waiver, please visit the human resources management benefits Website.
